Nice Cookies

After doing interior stuff for the last year and a half, this year is the exterior/landscaping. Just got done having all new siding and a new front door put in. Paid for, no way in hell I could do it myself. House is a duplex btw.

I’m assuming you own the entire duplex? If not how did you work out the siding issue with other owner? Looks very nice and clean now. Front door looks 100% better too.

We own just our half. Actually, when they started work on our side, the neighbor came over and asked about it as apparently they were interested in doing it themselves too but didn’t really know what to do (Old school asian family next door, mom speaks engrish, dad dosn’t speak english.) She liked the colors we chose and they decided to have it done at the same time to.

I like it better then the aluminum siding that was on there, plus we got the insulated vinyl siding which has cut down on the furnace running.
Yesterday we dug out the front bed, planted a couple more bushes, and added 17 bags of black mulch to go with the shutters.

Gonna be replacing that plastic barrier with a natural stone pretty soon.

HUUUGE improvement. Looks great now. Significant increase to home value right there. Sandblasted the bricks too eh?

Yeah, we were going to do our half no matter what, they just happened to want to do it as well.

The tulips aren’t really right, but they will only live for another year or two before they poop out anyway – never plant them as a single or in a straight row.

I’d recommend a sunken brick or paver as an edging so you can run your mower wheel right on top of it.

I’d also recommend a more upright "anchor" plant on the corner to camouflage the meter – don’t plant anything too prickly for the meter reader’s sake, and the bed is way too narrow/close to the house for anything really large anyway. Maybe a nice rhododendron or mock orange.
I read this as Sliding/Front door. I came in expecting a house with a sliding glass front door
