We’re decorating our kitchen…..gimme your opinions and ideas!

Heres the kitchen before/after so far…..

I really want to paint the baseboards white but I have to live with the counter tops and cabinets probably until the summer.

The kitchen table is going to the garage sale in the spring and we’re going to build bench seating along the 3 walls by the window to go with a rectangular table. (We’ll also be able to store stuff under the seats which will be awesome because our kitchen is so damn small)

Help me make the most of it because I really don’t care for it………I told my fiancee that I got to pick the living room colors if she picked out the kitchen

white appliances, birch/light oak cabinets, dark hardwood floors, bright yellow paint and earth tone green. You should be able to spot the problem there just by reading some of those colors.

Hard to say what to do unless you know what your doing for cabinetry/counter top ahead of time, rather make it right the first time
Yeah, you need to wait until you can do everything at once. Otherwise, it will look just as disjointed as it does now. Maybe not as hideous, but just as disjointed. Like a different person picked each element without looking at the others.

I would plan to fix the gap in cabinetry above the sink. It looks very wrong.

Depending upon how much you wanted to do, you could really make that space rock. It’s not big, but you could spice it up. I would have used smaller tile of probably a similar texture and color for the backsplash. A new chandelier. Something that matches whatever else you do in there. If you’re going for a simple, country kitchen/breakfast area, then stick with that theme throughout the whole kitchen. Don’t try to do a little bit of one thing here, and another there. What’s your budget for the whole thing?
Well we won’t have the money to redo our counter tops or cabinets for a long time…though I guess we could always just paint our cabinets

We got into a bit of an argument last night about this

Now that you all see the kind of floor/decor we currently have….what color would you have reccomended for the walls?

We haven’t really sat down and planned a budget

As for that space above the sink. Me and a buddy are going to build shelves there for plates/bowls/whatever and mount a light underneath.
You won’t really need a cabinet above the sink. You can alternatively install a large light fixture that will complement the cabinets.

You can rock one of these

definatly needs something there…that space looks bare and awkward
Tell us what YOU like, and what you had considered doing.

If you want to change the cabinets, you could do a pickled finish that would make them look cooler, but it doesn’t work for everyone and every kitchen.
Sorry, I forgot about this thread.

Honestly I would’ve liked a light green or tan/brown but I’m willing to sacrifice if we can make it look right.

We planned out some shelves with some recessed lighting to go over the sink and fill that bare space. If that falls through, at the bare minumum we’re putting in a light fixture there.

I also got her looking at counter tops
