Vertical blind

0

In my new place I have a sliding door, made up of three frames of glass. The center slides and the outer frames stays put.

There are two options with vertical blinds – I can do 2/3 and 1/3. 2/3 covering the actual sliding door itself and opens in the same direction as the sliding door. Advantage is that I only have to move 1 blind to get out.

Or I can do 1/2 and 1/2. Of-course, I would have to move 2 blinds, each in opposite direction to get out.

Looking for some feedback here, is there a best practice that applies to my case?

why can’t you just get a single large one? I have a 6′x15′ window that I have vertical blinds for and didn’t need to do anything funky with them.
Im assuming the TS is trying to stay away from a custom blind option, and trying to do it on the cheap. A 6′ x 15′ vertical blind setup im assuming was custom (and somewhat costly). I know I have an abnormally large window that we had similar problems with. I ended up with curtains to avoid the hassle, and save a ton of money.
I would do 2/3 and 1/3, separates the sliding door portion from the stationary portion.

But really, curtains are so much nicer. They don’t look dated (if you get the right style), vertical blinds get tangled and twisted, curtains don’t make funny noises when the a/c or heater air hits them, and they make better insulation (for temperature and light).

I did end up doing 2/3 and 1/3, quite happy with it.

Actually my biggest concern is insulation from draft in the winter, like you said it doesn’t look like it will provide much but I guess we’ll find out.
