Extending wires/cables

OK I decided to open my wall cutout for our tv, well found out there isn’t enough slack in some cables to do this as is, what are my best options here? The cables are for: cable tv, cat3, and speaker cables.

Extending should occur at the end of the cable, not the middle. However, the more connectors you put in the line, the lower the signal quality will be (this might not be a big deal for just adding one connector, but it’s something to think about if you plan a larger job later).

School Shooting paper, suggestions?

I’m doing a scary story for my Creative Writing class, and I didn’t want to do the typical zombie / killer ex-girlfriend story. I wanted to do a paper people can RELATE to. Something they can put themselves in line with and actually imagine happening to them. Soo I did it on a school shooting. Keep in mind this isn’t like venting or anything, and it’s purely fictional. I’m looking for improvement suggestions.

Adding CAT5 cables to each room?

I noticed a lot of 2002+ built houses have this built in, but I am buying an older town house and was wondering if its possible to pay someone to add some sort of network connections to rooms without draggin the wire accross the floor, id rather it be like CABLE tv how that is set up.

Many new home do offer this as an option and if you are lucky they will also include it. The good thing though is that phone line are now run on cat5/cat6 systems. This is good because you can use the extra pairs to tap in for the internet then usually you will not have wire the extra cat5.

Book trade?

I’ve got a bunch of books that I’ve read and all sitting around. Is anybody interested in trading books in bulk? Maybe like 5 books at a time or something between members (to cut down on shipping costs)
what kind of books do you have, I tend to read things along the lines of steven king, dean koontz, or else the true crime type of thing.

My favorite wine

My favorite wine only 10 a bottle, and @ 13.4%

Some of the best you will find coming out of California’s wine country.
Mine is Black Opal. An Australian wine. I would recommend the 2005 Shiraz. Its delicious. You can get it between 7 to 10 dollars.

we need more pics of the bottle for each of these that way i can identify them better. i like wine (i think) but have no idea what is good or not aka i cant tell a good wine from a bad one
I’m still apeshit over the Ripasso I tried not too long ago. (more…)

Let’s attempt to List Every Book You’ve EVER Read

I think it would be cool to have a thread where we list books we’ve read, and as we remember them we can come back and edit our list. We can also help each other figure out the names of books if we just remember the story, and use each others list to help remember. Anyways I’m going to start my own list, I’m sure it will take a while to remember most of them. If you participate you should keep your list in one post, and use other posts for discussion and such.

Power sources for disposer and dishwasher??

Yeah, I’m thinking of adding a garbage disposal and a dishwasher to this pole barn. Silly question… What powers these 2 things? I know the disposal uses a standard switch, but does it have a plug in somewhere?? I know the dishwasher needs a water in and a water discharge, but what powers it? Are they 110, 220, or something else? Don’t worry, I’m not actually doing the work; a contractor will be. I’m just seeing what needs to be set up.
I think dishwasher models vary so you’ll want to check out the model washer you are getting to be sure. Disposers are usually 110 but some of the bigger commercial models may use 220.
