I have a generic ceiling fan with light. Lets say I buy I universal remote…can I convert the ceiling fan to where I can program it into the remote? If so how?
Yes they have remotes specific for ceiling fans found in where you would find ceiling fans in Home Depot or Lowes. Not sure the cost, but it will vary depending on what you want.
All you do is wire it according to directions, something like hot to one of the leads, switch leg to the other etc.
Not hard it fits inside the casing for the wiring on the fan too.

So, I did some searches on here and google and found that QuickStep is considered a pretty good laminate floor. I was looking to order some for our project, but I can’t find a store around here that actually carries it so that I can get a look first hand.
We’re sort of pressed for time (need to get this room done before the 24th), so I don’t have much time to mess around with ordering online samples and such, so I’m wondering what opinions (if any) you guys might have on Shaw laminate floors. I was looking at them at Menards and they "looked nice." I know this means jack shit, though, as it tells me nothing about their quality.

I want to put recessed lighting in my living room which currently has no wall or ceiling lighting for general ambient lighting. The room measure 26′ x 14′ with standard 8′ high ceilings. The house is a ranch so installation and wiring shouldn’t be an issue. I am looking for help with respect to choosing an appropriate layout as well as proper sizing and wattage for the lights. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? So far I have been using the Home Depot 1-2-3 book and it mentions 6′ spacing, but little else. I can get some pictures of the room if that would be at all helpful. Thanks for any help.

I got a bunch of crimini mushrooms at costco, and I figured that instead of having mushrooms every day for a week, I’d see if I could dehydrate them. I have a dehydrator, would I just slice them up and lay them flat, or is there a better way to do this? Thanks!
I took a Rubbermaid container, put Damp Rid at the bottom (you can get it at Home Depot) then put a chicken wire rack about 8 inches above that, and put the mushrooms across the chicken wire. Took about 1-2 days to completely dry them.

Hey there,
Anyone feel like answering this question.
I have an unfinished basement that I need to put a subfloor down on. The basement is concrete slab right now, and while there are load bearing walls, there is no framing currently up for the interior walls.
I intend to put 1" rigid foam covered by 5/8 plywood overtop, tapcon screwed into the floor (a la Mike Holmes), but am unsure whether I should first frame my walls (and get them sprayfoamed) or if I should put down the floor, and then frame up my walls on top of the subfloor.

Anyone have one they would recommend? Also I have a water softener does this mean I would have to replace filters more often?
I’ve had an American Plumber R/O system for almost 10 years now. I liked mine so much, I bought one for my parents about 6 years ago… they love theirs too. I also have mine hooked up to the refrigerator, so all of my ice is made from purified water… you’ve never seen ice cubes so crystal clear.
The water from my system tastes so fresh and clean, most bottled waters taste like a fishtank by comparison. I’m a HUGE water drinker… I don’t drink coffee, I don’t drink soda… my R/O system is in constant use and I find that the replacement parts last FAR longer than recommended… like at least 2X, or 3X as long. A simple ppm meter, available on Ebay for under $20, is used to test the efficiency of your system.

I’m looking for a solid core interior door which doesn’t transmit sound easily. Home Depot is full of clowns. JELD-WEN makes some kind of ProCore quiet door which is sold through Home Depot but Home Depot idiots told me they don’t carry this door although they have posters for it on the wall.
Anyways,
Anyone know of such doors?
Home depot does/should carry them. But you’re probably best off to go to a trim and door place. Just ask for a solid core/fire rated safe and sound door.

I’ve done some research online, but still not convinced which one to buy.
don’t do it if you have any sizeable lawn, the batteries don’t last. Better yet make one out of an old gas mower, a car battery, a 12 volt motor and the appropiet wiring.
I have a Homelite. Got it from Home Depot. Works great, except not self propelled. I can mow the lawn twice before having to recharge, would most likely actually do my lawn almost 3 times, but don’t want to have to wait for the re-charge. Yards down here are fairly small though.
