So this is where the Home Improvement peeps are!
Funny, I usually only lurk in Wall Street and Yard Sale. Never even noticed this forum.
I was wondering what you guys think of my renovation project, I have a slideshow here:
Story:
Bought a Crappy house about 1.5 yrs ago. Father, Brother and I renovated the whole deal. Tore the roof off, and rebuilt the whole house. Next year is landscaping time.
Any comments would be nice for this newb.
I think I just found my new favorite part of OT.
Kitchen looks great.
Keep up the good work
Thanks, I gotta take some new pics and update the show. There’s more thats been done. I have some nice dark counters that make the kitchen look pretty pimp.
I’m not looking to sell anytime soon. We did a lot more than what we would have for a flip. Even small things like the wine rack in the kitchen.
This was my first real project. My Father and Brother work in construction, but I’m a techie. I’ve always worked with them on their projects though. I just need their direction to get started on all of mine.
wow, amazing job, couldn’t ever imagine doing the addition portion.
more details? cost of house? cost of renovation? not a huge fan of the finished product, i would have put some dormers on the front but thats just me
Bought it as an estate sale for $135K
Renovation was around 75K
I’m not a huge fan of the small dormers. I don’t see a point to it, seeing as it is pretty much unused space. If the roofline was going to impede on headroom in those rooms, I probably would have done something like dormers. But I designed the roof to have the pitch it does for maximum space in those upstairs bedrooms. Is that what turns you off from it, or is there more?

not so much for more floor space, but to break up the roof in the front
Gotcha. not a bad idea. Next time I tear the roof off, I’ll try it!
Looks good.. a lot of work but it will pay off and theres no better pride knowing you did it yourself. You will have a great respect for the home now.
