Red Wine Q. How long can you keep an opened bottle?

0

I’ve had one open for about 1 1/2 weeks Some say it tastes better the longer its open others say drink it right away
1 1/2 weeks is way too long.

After 24 hours it starts to lose some of the more complex flavors. After 48 you should get rid of it.

Thats what I was planning on doing. I just thought you could keep it for a week or two and it was fine
ugh, that’s going to be nasty being open that long. I start to not like the taste 2 days after a bottle has been opened.

I don’t like wine very much but the wife does. A week is about the longest she will keep a bottle for drinking after it’s been opened. I guess it really depends on how picky you are about the taste of your wine. I can’t taste the difference between a freshly opened bottle and one that has been sitting for a week but some people can.
get an airtight cork, theyre everywhere, it will keep wine for as long as you please, it comes with 2 rubber corks and an airtight manual pump. you could probly pick one up for about 10 dollar, but i use mine every night

I do the same thing; keeps the wine form over-oxygenating, which is what changes the flavor in a bottle that’s been open for too long. It’s a rubber stopper and a hand pump that pumps the air out of the bottle.

Here’s one on Amazon:

I would say just a day or two after opening. Not very long. Drink up!
how should i keep a bottle of white wine i bought a couple of years ago? it is unopened…fridge or cabinet

definately fridge
oops. I make spaghetti sauces with red wine…i keep it around for 2 weeks. But i don’t know what im doing

its alright if you cook with it, its just the taste of drinking it may be somewhat warped

An open bottle of wine never lasts longer 12-24 hrs in our house. Red’s usually get poured into a decanter for a little while before we drink it.

Don’t store an unopened bottle of wine in the fridge. Keep it somewhere cool and dark, preferably free from vibrations (not above the washer & dryer) and lying on its side to keep the cork wet.

Put it into the fridge a couple of hours before you want to drink it.

A couple of hours?
If it’s good wine just use it for vinegar or something. Even a half day is too long for many.
