Yea yea yea i know it wasn’t the top on the votes, but it was a VERY close second and it is very short plus I’ve already read 1984, so here is what we are going to do.

We’re going to read this as a warm up book and then 1984 directly after. Seeing as it is so short the book should be read for discussion by Sunday June 24th, This should be plenty of time seeing as you have two weekends and I am sure most of you could finish it in one sitting.

We will be starting 1984 the Wednesday of June 28th.

Enjoy the books!
Cool, I’ll try to pick up a copy as soon as possible.
Just finished Chapter One.

Hmm… read a few chapters so far.

Am I supposed to feel like I’m schizo when I’m reading this?

This book is pretty intense. And to answer your question;

"You’re so sick, Oedipa, she told herself, or the room, which knew.
I’m going to have to read Chapter One again because that was a lot to take in!
For real…

But I’m not going to lie, I hit up Spark Notes for the first chapter. It helped me understand the context a bit better and gave me some history on Thomas Pynchon and his writing style.

That might be a good idea for some of the readers here. Pynchon is hardcore stuff! This book is harder to read than though
Thought I could easily grab this book today but I couldn’t…

Three bookstores later and they didn’t have this book. They had other Pynchon stuff, but not this one

There is another one I’m going to check tomorrow morning.

Started this a few weeks ago and moved on to a few other things. I’ll go dig it out.

1984 had 10 votes, Crying of Lot 49 had 9 votes.

So we’re reading the top two

Found it today at the 4th store.

Need to power through this though. Probably have a IE test Friday and a Hist test next Tuesday. Got to find time though.
This book is thick stuff, it’s thin, but man it’s thick stuff.
I’ve been offline

I’ll jump in for 1984 though. Maybe we could add the film to the reading?

This is slower reading than I thought. Plus I’ve had a two tests to deal with, the last of which is tomorrow. Going to try to power through it tomorrow afternoon though.
