Need recommend humorous "modern classic" books

0

I know this section probably gets a lot of book recommendation requests. Well here is another one.

Looking for good fiction or prose that have a heavy element of humor in it while retaining an "important" feel, not as colloquial as Chuck Cloisterman or David Sedaris (although I enjoyed those as well). Preferably something something 1920 or later.

Here are some I enjoyed that fit the description, so similar stuff would be very nice: Catch-22, Angela’s Ashes, Confederacy of Dunces, On The Road, Up In The Old Hotel, Catcher In The Rye, Vonnegut’s books.

Please help!

Try David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest.

Thank You for Smoking is humorous, not really a classic but a damn good book.

Heller wrote a book called "God Knows" that I thought was hilarious.. it’s supposed to be an autobiography of King David.
