Mounting an LCD

I’m thinking of a 40" LCD that I want to mount on the wall.

The problem is I’m having trouble tracking down a good mount that doesn’t cost a LOT. I’ve been looking at Peerless but it seems they are $280+. The mount they have I really really want is like $583.

Mainly what I’m looking for is what that tilts up and down but also has some side tilt movement to it because I won’t be watching from directly infront of where the TV is mounted so I want it off the wall at a slight angle.

I had a similar problem mounting a 42" in our bedroom. I didn’t need the tilt, but needed the TV to be at an angle, not flush to the wall. My solution was to buy the less expensive mount ($250 at Circuit City, though I’ve seen them online for just under $200) and mount it on some 2X4s I ran from stud to stud in the corner to achieve the angle I needed. You could probably do something similar by cutting some shis to get the tilt you’re looking for. The downside is it will be in a fixed positions. I’ll post a picture tomorrow if you’d like.

Ya, that would be cool
sorry for the delay. My laptop hard drive crashed, so I had to rebuild.

Here is the mounting we did. Needs another coat of paint, but other than that, it’s working out quite nicely.

Why not just get the Sanus cantilever mount that expands up to 19 inches. You could have mounted the wall-plate as close to the corner as possible and then angled the tv so it sat in the corner. No need to add those 2x4s.

That’s pretty cool and what I want but it’s $400!!

Had I found that at the time, I might have considered it. When we were looking I couldn’t find a cantilever mount for less than $600, which is more than half what we paid for the TV so it was hard to justify.

Up and down tilt.

I’m pretty sure they have a left and right tilt one at the store by my house too..

For up to a 30" flat panel. They have a larger one in the store.
