Anyone here order steaks through the mail?

I always thought it was a little odd and couldn’t be that goood, but while visiting my brother he grilled up some filets that he had ordered from Kansas City Steaks. (He said he had also tried Omaha steakes, but the Kansas City filets were better.) Anyway, they were amazing. Better than I’ve had from most restaurants. I’d say on par with Ruth’s Chris. What’s really cool is they are flash frozen and individually packaged so they can be stored in the freezer without risk of any ill effects. This way you also don’t have to find a good butcher and then drive over every time you feel like grilling up a steak.

Just figured I’d share and also see if others have recommended places they’ve ordered from? I’m definitely going to pick up an order of those filets.
There is an OTer that works for Omaha steaks. He gave some coupons to OT before. I dont remember his name but he could probably help.
my parents order a lot of steaks from allen brothers, used to get a bunch from omaha but i think they like allen brothers better now.

My local butcher has cheap steaks, usually around $6/lb that rival Ruth’s Chris in flavor/texture. And they’re cheap, and super close.
they’re not terrible, but the way they are vacuum packed usually take out alot of the moisture/flavor. local butchers are much more plentiful than you’d think, and it’s nice going in and telling them exactly what you want and not having to wait for shipping
The reason the mail order steaks are better is because the beef is actually better. It’s not because of some special cut, or the butcher, or whatever. We just have better quality beef here in the midwest.

I drive by Omaha Steaks everyday on my way to work.
I have gotten Omaha Steaks in the mail as gifts several times and they are always great.
