Is this repairable?
When my dog was a puppy he completely shredded a section of carpet in my basement. He pulled it up, tore holes on the edges and shredded the padding underneath. Is this fixable or do I have to recarpet my entire basement? Here’s a bad pic of the damage. You can see where it’s torn along the edge. I can basically uncover a section that’s about 8′x8′.
Is there a cheap way to fix this?
If you can find the same exact carpet you can replace the section and try to make the seam really tight. There’s a seam in our livingroom carpet because the room is wider than the width carpet is sold, it’s barely noticeable. That however was done by pros.
Maybe you should tile a small section at the bottom of the stairs.
I thought about doing that as well but I don’t think that it would look quite right because of how big the area really is. The pic doesn’t show it completely exposed. I would take a better pic but the memory card in my camera is acting stupid. My computer won’t read the pics.
Just make it like a foyer area type thing with the tiles
Agreed
Carpet won’t look right – age/dye variations
It’s kinda hard to tell the extent of the damage to the carpet from the pic but if the holes are not that bad you can get some carpet tape and put it uderneath to hold them closed and then just retack it. If nothing else that would be a good temporary solution until you are ready to replace the section with something else or replace the carpet completely.
Step 1. Kill the dog.
Step 2. Buy a cat.
Step 3. Do what the other guys said.
just put down new flooring. laminate flooring and tile have gotten cheap lately
