Nice Cookies

So I stumbled across this e-book. It’s the story that the zombie-ish vampire-ish movie The Last Man On Earth (starring Vincent Price, which became the basis for The Omega Man and 28 Days Later) is based on.

I’m hoping it’s a good read. There’s a lot of flap about it on the web - it’s supposedly the first book to approach vampires scientifically, with vampirism treated as a disease.

Have any of you guys read it or heard anything about it?
I own it, unfortunately my ex bf has it now

Yeah it’s a great story and a good twist on the vampire legend. Have you seen any of the movies based on it?
I liked it. The ironic twist at the end is quite memorable.

There have been two adaptations of I Am Legend to the big screen but not exactly identical to the novel. First is The Last Man on Earth co-starring Vincent Price about a doctor who is immune to a deadly virus that kills almost the entire human race in the world but some have become zombie-like mutants and there’s also The Omega Man co-starring Charlton Heston about a biochemist who survives a biological warfare and must fight against a horde of survivors who have turned into mutants due to the bio attack.
Actually, 28 Days Later is also kind of an adaptation. It’s more like the short story and The Omega Man than any other zombie movie. It’s a shame they didn’t credit Matheson.

Just got the original book and Richard Matheson’s "What Dreams May Come". Started with "Dreams" first and I’m discovering it’s nothing like the actual movie (which I loved).

Still a good read on it’s own though. I’ll tackle "I Am Legend" next.

I haven’t read the book or seen the movie. Good?

Matheson wrote a whole bunch of Twilight Zone episodes, too.

It’s really good.
I’m used to the book and movie not being the same but it still surprised me how vastly different they are.
