Help with Wine Tasting Order!!!!

0

Hello,

I am hosting a wine tasting, and I am a complete amateur when it comes to wine, so please help me with the order I should follow when serving these wines:

Sauvignon Blanc
Chardonnay
Pinot Noir
Merlot
Cabernet Sauvignon
Syrah
Riesling
Pinot Grigio
Zinfandel

Thank you so much for your help!!
it depends on the brand of the wine, as flavors can change with each grape depending on how its made. for example, i put riesling last assuming it was a very sweet wine, and chardonnay after pinot assuming its aged on oak, otherwise, the pinot grigio could be more fruity and that might throw off the flavors from the chardonnay.

you may want to try the pinot noir after the cab as well, it could be a big spicy wine and the taste might affect the cab.

Sauvignon Blanc
Pinot Grigio
Chardonnay

Syrah
Merlot
Zinfandel
Pinot Noir
Cabernet Sauvignon

Riesling
I believe the proper way to do serve wines is whites before reds and then dry to sweet.

I’ve been thinking about hosting my own wine tasting as well. I read an article in More Magazine about doing a Chilean wine tasting. The article suggests wines to serve and even includes recipes for dishes to serve as well. Ever since I visited Chile last year I’ve loved to try new South American wines.

Riesling(depends on what kind)
Pinot Grigio
Sauvignon Blanc
Chardonnay
Pinot Noir
Merlot
Syrah
Zinfandel
Cabernet Sauvignon

If the Riesling is an Alsatian Riesling or a Kabinett Riesling, try it first. If it’s a Spatlese or Auslese you might want to wait til the end. The sugar can be overwhelming. If you do try it first, be sure to swish some water before moving on.
are you including cheeses as well, if so, for your selection i would reccomend a montrechet (herbed goat cheese) a tomme de sav (brown rind, melting cheese), a camabert (bri) and a petite basce (waxed melting cheese)

good luck with your party!
