floor tile for a small bathroom
The tile both me and the gf are really liking, only comes in 13×13. Is this too big for a small bathroom?
I wouldn’t use 13" tiles in a small room. It just won’t look proportionately right.
Use something more like a 6×6 size. 4×4 is a touch too small for my tastes in most flooring applications, but I agree that 13×13 might be too big for something like a powder room or small half-bath. If it’s a full bath, even a small one, you MIGHT get away with it.
I like the look of bigger tiles if they’re on a diagonal. How do you feel about diagonal tiles?
it’s a full bath, only bath in the house,. tiled area is only about 30 square feet, plus the tub.
Tile on the diagonal looks really good. But it creates a lot more waste and work at the walls.
Mebbe the OP could experiment with colored construction paper to get an idea of how it might look on a diagonal, or set on diagonal with an offset to create a sawtooth appearance. I did my brother’s kitchen that way-tiles turned 30 degrees with a 3" kick-it hid the fact that the room was out of square by about a half a foot on the long axis.
bigger tiles = less grout lines = room looking bigger.
who you callin OP?
OP in my abbreviated world means Original Poster, e.g. the one who starts a message board thread.
ahh, well that’s not quite what OP means in the abbreviated world of OT.
Yes, it does. It’s all about context. OP has two meanings, depending upon how it is used.
Can you cut the tiles? It’s a lot of work but you could use the tile color or design you like but make them smaller? Maybe even do a pattern with different sizes and shapes.
that’s a good idea with the construction paper.
my parents have a small bathroom with 9" tile on the floor and it looks very nice.
by the by, what is the OP meaning on OT? i’ve always meant "original poster" but i’ve seen people using it in a different context.

online pussy.
pretty well any girl that’s posting/talking online.
Probably not a good idea because the factory edges will stick out compared to the cut edges. Unless they are stone (marble/granite/slate)
I’ve used 13×13 in a small bathroom, cut diagonally, looked great. We replaced the previous 6×6 tiles, same colour, same everything (poorly installed the first time), and it made the room look way bigger
