Anyone here put an engineered floor down in a high rise condo? I have a concrete floor, so it kind of limits what I can do. I know I can’t have solid hardwood
And I hate the feel of laminate.

I’ve seen engineered glued to the floor once. The guy at the flooring store told me I could do it as a floating floor. Anyone seen or tried that?
floating floors look good and will work great over a slab…definitely not like a cheap laminate flooring
I have put down engineered oak before. It looks real nice. Biggest thing is to make sure the concrete is flat and smooth. The only issue you may run into is that the boards do not lock together like laminate so you may have some issues with them separating, especially near the walls. This is why it is suggested that you glue it down. You may be able to get away with just glueing the edges.

I installed regular prefinished T&G oak over concrete, but I first installed a layer of 3/4 plywood with polyurethane adhesive and Hilti nails, then put down the T&G using a PortaNails blind nailer. Make sure you can undercut any doors which swing across the new floor, that it won’t eff up appliance access, and that no stairs abut such an installation, or it would be a building code violation.
