Driveway over a septic tank?
0Is there any way in hell that I can build a new driveway that goes over my septic tank. I want to get rid of the circle and build a new garage/workshed on the far side of the house and reroute the driveway there. The most direct and best route goes right over my septic tank.
Here is a general picture.
Dark green is forest, light green is field, grey circle driveway with blue extension following proposed path to new garage over the septic tank.
In the township where I live, absolutely not. I doubt that it is permissible under any building or residential code, and may require state DEP approval.
I didn’t think so. Oh well. Guess I’ll just forget about that project then.
So I’m guessing your new driveway would be concrete and not gravel.
im gonna go with the no crowd on this one, why not just build a garage near the existing drive?
Do you plan on having inspection pipes sticking up through the driveway?
I wanted the garage on the back side of the property so that it’s not the first thing you see coming down drive, not to mention it is a perfect site. Getting rid of the gravel circle would allow me to expand my orchard a bit also. Plus, the path of the driveway I want to build is the old drive for the civil war plantation house that used to be on the property.
If I pave it I figured I could use sealed metal caps flush with the drive for the inspection pipe.
But, it would probably be more of a pain than it’s worth even if I could get a permit to do it.
no chance of going over septic tank
what about branching off of the driveway loop and going on the other side of the house?
