Downspout drainage Q

So on the back of our house we have a typical downspout that just pours out onto a little concrete pad and then spills all over the yard… in order to make things look nicer i’m gonna bury it with some 4" perforated pipe (no danger of roots crushing it or whatever).

can i just end the pipe underground? or does it have to go to a dry well? or something random that i would never think of?
Do you have a perimeter drain system at all? if so tying into that would be your best bet, or run the pipe to a large hole that is filled with drain rock… called a French drain

Mine goes out to the ditch at the road… it also carries away the water from my sump pump, and the from the floor drain in my barn.
Mine terminates with a piece of 90-degree PVC pipe pointing straight up, with a cap on top that opens up when water pushes out through it.
The answer depends on a lot of things. First-how much roof is draining into this downspout? Does the yard slope away from the dwelling? Is there a basement, and if so, have you ever had water problems? What kind of soil do you have? How high is the water table?
The yard slopes away, never had water problems, no basement, no perimeter drain system. just a tiny backyard behind a townhouse that we’re trying to improve on the aesthetics so we can possibly sell soon

Just trying to make the current downspout that looks like into something that is much cleaner (hence the underground deal) and also won’t make large puddles after a rain (they disappear quickly, but they’re a nuisance with a dog).
the water drains fairly well in the yard, sometimes it may take a day to completely soak up after a heavy rain, but never seems to be a problem, which is why i’m thinking it wouldn’t be a problem if it just ended underground.

thanks for all the replies
Doing what I said is a good approach, then. I chose the approach I did specifically for the same reasons as you.

ok thanks. heading off to lowes to return some stuff i didn’t need to buy and stuff that was the wrong size and i’ll look for something like that then
was yours anything like the french drain deal (with the gravel around it)? or was it just the lined perforated pipe?
