Dean Koontz-The Good Guy

Just finished this. It’s his newest book, and here’s my take on it…

It seems like it was written closer to the style of his older books (which I like). The ending was rather abrupt, but the journey up to it was very very good. The character development was quite good, and the book was well paced. It’s just about 50 pages shorter than it should have been. The conflicts throughout the book seemed to be more stressed and intense than the final conflict. Overall, I’ll give the book an 86/100 rating. It’s on par with Intensity, The Bad Place, and Seize The Night by Koontz. Not his bets work, but quite good. I wouldn’t buy it in hardcover, but I’ll pick it up when it hits paperback.

I’m listening to it in audio format right now and having trouble with it. This is my first Koontz book, and I was under the impression he wrote suspense thrillers.
Well, frankly the book is boring me – I’m on about chapter 14 and very little has actually *happened*, it’s almost all dialog, with the exception of a rather cliche car chase.
In fact I’m starting to think if nobody does anything interesting in the story very soon I’ll probably dump it and move on to something else.
