cooking lobster question

yesterday i boiled/steamed a 5lb lobster. the pot was too small for it so i boiled it’s claws/body and steamed the tail for about 25 minutes. the tail was rather chewey. is that because i steamed it? should i have just broken off the claws and tail and boil them together? i’ve got a 6lb for later.
Yeah, you should’ve boiled the whole thing. Get a bigger pot.

Lobster is always a little chewy compared to crabmeat, but it shouldn’t be noticeably more chewy than what you can get at Red Lobster.

When I do just tails, I put them in a pot of boiling water, let the water come back to a boil and go for 5 more minutes, take it out and immerse in ice cold water for 5 minutes, then broil for 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the tail. This is the method suggested by the fish market I buy the tail at, and it turns out great. Dare I say, even better than Red Lobster.
25 minutes is overkill

180 degrees in the middle. usually 3qts per lobster is needed to boil - not sure on steaming, but when they are all bright red, they are done…
6 pound lobster!

Bigger lobster is older and way more chewy. Baby lobsters are tender and not chewy. Tails are way more chewy than claws.
broil it, i like it better, the juices carmalize, its got a different texture but i like the flavor more.
