clogged toilet

Our upstairs toilet has been clogged for two days. I’ve been using a ball-type plunger, draino, and gallons of hot water but it still won’t flush completely. The water goes down but it doesn’t "flush" if you know what I mean. What else can I do besides call a plumber?
since the water is still making it down, plunge it when there is water in the bowl, keep plunging and keep flushing. eventually the blockage will clear because it istn a total block. any ideas as to what is stuck?

…adopt the courtesy flush 😀
Go to big box store and purchase a "closet auger". Used correctly, that should remove any quasi normal semi-solids, e.g. mega-dump. If a child flushed 227 plastic army men and a Furby down the crapper, all bets are off.
they do have an air powered plunger that should work if its not something like a bag of flour

Doesn’t work unfortunately. I think it’s just toiletpaper/feces unless someone did something I don’t know about. I’ll hit up home depot tomorrow.
If you can’t get it to work, just take it apart. All you need to do is buy a wax ring to replace the one you’ll scrape off the bottom of the toilet. It’s 2 bolts to remove the tank (turn off the water first!), then two more to take the bowl off the floor.

Be prepared with some throw away towels to mop up the shit that will go all over the floor , some rubber gloves, and some bleach.

Otherwise, it’s an easy job. I did it two months ago after daughter dropped one of wifey’s make up brushes down the toilet.
Some hardware stores have something you can pour down your drains. I can’t remember the name of it but I believe its 96% active sulfuric acid. Just pour it down, and it should eat everything thats down your pipes..including your pipes. So you have to be careful with it.
Most drain cleaners are bases so they don’t do exactly what accordse posted, eat your pipes. Strong enough bases will dissolve almost anything organic but not damage metal or pvc or whatever your pipes are made of. It sounds like a closet auger is your best bet.

DO NOT BUY THE WAX RING WITH THE LITTLE RUBBER LIP. The rubber lip will only serve to catch more crap (literally) and cause you more trouble. Only use the plain wax rings, with no modern doohickies on them.

And that would be why we use Poly-Vinyl Chloride drain pipes nowadays, instead of cast iron.

You can send the consulting appreciation fee to my PO box.
Do you have kids? If so, it’s possible they flushed something down that’s completely inert and resists chemical, such as plastic toys.
… holy resurrected thread.

This was cleared up 1.5 months ago.
use that toilet clog removing product, whatever the hell it is!
