Buzzing noise on breaker update

0

Hey guys
so it seems like it is just one of the switches in the breaker that is making the buzzing noise. It is the switch that gives the power to the lightbulbs in 2/4 bedrooms in this house…

so is it something that needs an electrician? what is causing the buzzing? when it is switched off the buzzing goes away immedietly
you could probably remove and replace it yourself. get numbers off of it, go to your local home depot/lowes/menards, ask for that part and then for instructions on how to install it

Okay
I will do that
what do you mean by get the numbers off it? where are the numbers and what numbers am I lookin for?
I have never done this before
do i need to wear gloves or anything to protect myself?

Thanks in advance
You will need at least three pieces of information to get a replacement:

The maker of the circuit panel itself – General Electric, Square D, etc.
The amperage of the breaker – it will be marked (probably 15 amp for your light circuits).
You will also want the dimensions (thickness) of the breaker you are replacing.
You’ll have to cut power to the house at the main to pull that breaker and replace it.
If this is your first foray into electrical work – i.e. you’ve never installed a rheostat or swapped out and outlet, I’d watch a pro do it.
It’s not super difficult, but not entry level either.
Fixed it!

Fuck hiring the pros

Beer all around.
Thanks for the help guys

Was a little scared as I opened that breaker box panel..even tho everything was turned off…didn’t wanna kill myself haha
goyou.jpg. not a lot of people would want to do that by themselves never having done electrical work before.

That’s a misconception. Flipping the main only de-energizes the breakers, the buss is still energized (and can kill you).

Scuze me? Tripping the main breaker on any MB style panel will most certainly de-energize the main busbars. If it fails to do so, then the main breaker needs to be replaced.

Would you care to offer some form of cite for your claim?
