Buying a used Router, question..

0

These are two I found today.
1 1/2 HP Ryobi router. It works well and is in good condition $30
Older Craftsman benchtop router table $50

I want to make doors for my aquarium stand. So I want to make a cut in the middle of my wood to put in wood inserts.
I would also like to round the edge of the wood of the door.

I’m hoping you don’t need top end gear to accomplish this (unlike a table saw, I’m told you need a $500+ model to do anything worth while.)

kind of like this

personally i would buy the router table because you can still remove the router later, and it is more useful with the table. and you dont need tod spend upwards of 500 bucks for a table saw
you dont need a 500 dollar table saw to do quality work, hell theres guys that build custom furniture with a skill saw and guide. how big is the craftsman? bits for doors come mainly come in 1/2 in. shank so you need a router that will accept that size and be able to power it.
to make that door properly, you’ll need to get a rail/stile bit set.

The 1/4" inset panel can be cut with a circular saw or anything else. The edges are set into the frame when it’s assembled.
