Bozeman, MT > Wasilla, AK in May/June?

The wife and I are thinking about possibly doing a road trip in late May. I’ve never driven thru Canada to Alaska before and I am wondering if it is do-able? The alternative is flying of course but there’s no adventure in that (done that 5 times).

How are roads up there in late May? We are very early in the planning process so any help would be appreciated.

We are thinking Great Falls, MT > Calgary > Edmonton > Grande Prairie > all the way to Whitehorse > and over the AK border. I’m reading a little on this site –

Either 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic, or 2003 Toyota Corolla. Leaving last week in May from Bozeman.

from ft nelson north theres fuck all for gas stations and such…there are some ‘lodges’ should be open around the time you go

but figure out yer tank range…id carry some jerry cans.

if you got at least all terrains on the xj, youll be fine…the toyota, id still be running winter tires on her.

if you broke down, itll be hrs before someone comes by, then they can relay the msg to the next ph…fuck cell service…

and for real, dont be taking hwy 2 from cgy to edm…
