Any HVAC people? I have a question about a quote I just got.
0Well our AC has not been blowing very well. Went into the attic and found out that the Plenum was not connected to the Evap Coil. Looks like it broke loose. The plenum was made duct board.
Had a guy come and look at it and he said we need to replace the evap coil and have a new metal plenum installed. He said the Evap Coil main drain pan has rusted and it is going into the secondary one.
He quoted us $2800.
I guess my main question is this a good price?
We have a 3ton unit and I have no idea how old it is.
He said for the $2800 we would:
Get Evap Coil replaced
Install a new Plenum that is made form sheet metal
reconnect and seal all ducts "Complete Mastic Seal"
Would come with 1yr service agreement and all parts have a 5yr warrenty.

I have another company coming on Thursday to give another quote.
Any Dallas area people have any recommendations?
The 1st $2800 quote is from Avrey Air Conditioning.
Thursday I have Hedrick Mechanical Inc coming out.
i don’t know about dallas area, but the quote here in dc metro is quite close, although if for all that you could it get it at 2000 – 2500 then that would be golden, i say shop more, maybe search out of the immediate dallas area, maybe further out in suburbs where they might be able to do it for cheaper, but then again its all about the quality when it comes down to HVAC, just don’t get ripped off, good luck
