My gf’s parents allowed me to stay at their place this summer so that I could live for free while working a pretty good job this summer. They love to cook..and as I gift, I was planning to purchase some high quality knives for them since that’s one thing that they don’t seem to have in their kitchen. I don’t know anything about the subject and though I’d look here for some recommendations.
I’d like a small set. Open to suggestions.
Right now I’m looking at companies such as

Anyone in the Houston area know about any home design centers? There used to be a Home Depot Expo center near Willowbrook that I used to love to walk around and get home design ideas. Any others like it aside from Ikea? I hate going to Ikea, nice stuff, but the store is a nightmare.

for spicy chicken and rice, low/no veggies/mushrooms, etc.
please please help! i prefer if the rice is fried, or plain.
mexican, chinese, japanese, korean, whatever it is… i need it. i prefer a good spicy-ness, rather than a tabasco type spice.
i made kung pao chicken -nuts, spicy chicken fajita meat w/rice, and some other things… nothing was perfect though.
boil your chicken- i use breast, boneless skinless- the amount you use depends on how meaty you like them.. I usually use at least a lb and a half-let cool and shred. add one can chopped green chiles and your favorite spanish rice (prepared and cooled) and one package of chi chi’s mexican seasoning in a deep skillet. cube up one package of cream cheese and stir into skillet untill all is well blended. Dip flour tortillas into a mild (or hot if you prefer) verde (green) enchilada sauce, fill with chicken mixture, top with a shredded pepper jack (or whatever you prefer) cheese, roll up and place seam side down into a 9 by 13 baking dish. when pan is full, cover with remaining verde, smother with more shredded cheese, and bake in a 350 oven till hot and bubbly, about 30 to 45 minutes. I like the cheese very bubbly and brown, so you might cover with foil for the first half hour or so if you don’t want your cheese so brown. great stuff!

I need to cook for 8 people next week and am thinking Fajitas wouldn’t be too difficult and the family I’m cooking for loves them.
I’m gonna try them out on my family of four this week. I don’t think I’m gonna marinate the steak strips, just some salt, pepper, and onion powder should be in order.
I’m thinking (for my family of 4):
Slice up a 1lb (will that be enough for 4 people?) ~2 thick sirloin into many strips, and season with salt + pepper

My g/f and I want to make something to bring to her fam’s place for thanksgiving. It’s not a super-traditional dinner so we’re going to bring lasagna. The catch is that this place is about a 45 minute drive away. I’m wondering how to prepare the dish beforehand. Do we cook it through and just reheat? Put it together and cook it there (freezing beforehand perhaps)?
One good thing about lasagna is everything is cooked before you even put it together. You only really stick it in the oven to heat it through and melt the cheese.

Hey everyone, I’m on a diet for gastric bypass surgery coming up, and basically I can only have vegetables, no meat. I can have small amounts of oil, and skim/1% milk and yogurts. No cheeses, no meats, no nuts no fruits, no pastas, rices, etc. And the vegetables are limited – no potatoes, corn, peas, beans, really starchy stuff. Anyway, I’m trying to come up with some ideas for tomorrow.
I have some homegrown portobello mushrooms that I want to make something with, along with cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and squash and zucchini to work with. I was wondering if anyone had any good ‘comfort food’-y dish ideas? I’d like to do 2 or 3 things. (I’m not looking specifically for something that uses mushrooms, sprouts, cauliflower AND squash. Just some ideas for each ingredient).

I came upon a parking sale for this and sat on some of their sofas. MAN, I was in heaven. I wasnt ready to buy at the time, but the price was attractive enough to buy next time they have a parking lot sale. msrp was like $5500, and the sale price was $3k. I usually come to their sales for their sheet sets, because they are quality, and affordable during sale time. this time, I just happened to try out their sofas.
would you "piece out" their furniture, not caring about how it looks(fabric matches, color, etc), for comfort? I am a single guy, but I do appreciate quality stuff, especially furniture that I am going to lounge in after a long day of work.

I’m putting together a cookbook of some quick and easy recipes just so i have it handy. does anyone have the links to the good recipes?
My wife did an edu for cooking a chicken and how to use the leftovers to make a chicken pot pie. She had pics and everything. I tried searching for it but it looks like it is gone.
you’re already on the internet where there are thousands of cookbooks already available.
A cookbook from OT members would be interesting, my wife has a recipe for a cheap thai chicken I will ask her how she makes it and PM you/post it tonight/tomorrow.

Being stuck in this hell whole called Korea. I am sick of eating Korean food. And unless I want to eat at a western chain I need to take out a small loan. I was wondering If I added malt to brewing vinegar would I get malt vinegar.

I have a generic ceiling fan with light. Lets say I buy I universal remote…can I convert the ceiling fan to where I can program it into the remote? If so how?
Yes they have remotes specific for ceiling fans found in where you would find ceiling fans in Home Depot or Lowes. Not sure the cost, but it will vary depending on what you want.
All you do is wire it according to directions, something like hot to one of the leads, switch leg to the other etc.
Not hard it fits inside the casing for the wiring on the fan too.
