Long story short, I’m buying a townhouse that I plan on completely remodeling, and I’d like to find some pictures of different rooms (Ie: kitchens, baths, living rooms, etc) so I can get some color and flooring ideas.
Are there any sites that might have something like this? Any magazines? I’d just like to see a bunch of different ideas to get some inspiration.
Thanks.
get stumbleupon for firefox, and set it up to look for design or architecture. It’s how I find most of my stuff.

I was wondering if anyone had a copy of Fight Club in .pdf or .txt format. I’m laid up due to knee surgery and can’t drive or walk to the local library to grab a copy. Finals week is coming up and i could definitely use the distraction from studying and the knee. Thanks
Also, if anyone has read any other books by Palahniuk? Which ones are worth reading?
Diary was great.

I could use a little advice shopping for washers/dryers.
What is the advantage of a front-load washer over a top-load?
What should I be looking for when I purchase a washer/dryer?
I want to keep it under $2500 for sure but I think I can get a great combo for $2000 or less. Gas Dryer.
1.)
That with matching dryer would be < $2500. Can I get an equally great combo for less?
Pedestal do anything other than raise the height of the unit? They’re going in my unfinished basement anyhow (I’d get white ones to save money) and considering I run a construction company I can have my welder build me a pedestal for nothing if I really want them raised.

I have some shrimp, jamacian jerk seasoning and some linguini. I also have various sauces, but I dont know if jerk’d shrimp would be good with a red sauce.
Anywho, looking for suggestions on how I could prepare something like this. Sauces mainly.
Jerk flavors go well with cream-based sauces, although I think a puttanesca might be an interesting accompaniment. I would suggest something simple like a B?chamel to start out with. B?chamel is one of the French "mother sauces," meaning it is the base for many other sauces. It’s very simple and pretty hard to screw up. My favorite way to make it is as follows. Keep in mind that I don’t do measurements, I play it by ear, so you might want to look up some exact measurements if you’re a little nervous.

My friends and I were trying to make churros last night for the hell of it.
The dough came out pretty well, despite the fact we didn’t have a pasty bag, but a zip lock with a scissor snip at the bottom piped out the dough just fine.
They fried up pretty well, but my friend kept turning up the heat, and the oil began to burn. The odd thing was the fact that after I turned down the heat, the olive oil began to foam up like some sort of angry, nasty crab. Does any one know why it would do that?

OK, I’m installing an air/oil separator on my car for crank case ventilation. HUSKY sells one at Home Depot for cheap, and I have seen it done of a few other cars with success.
Then today I found this at work…
It’s much smaller than the HUSKY unit, but it was installed on one of our air lines at work. Collects moisture and water in the hose.
Anyone know where I can get more? Who makes it? Etc? It would be perfect for smaller air lines in my car, the tips seem to match up perfectly.

My parents are redoing the basement, and they want to install some pot lights (sp?) in the ceiling, and i am wondering if you guys know of any sites that sell these lights for cheaper than a store? And if so, any recommendations?
They also need the harness (?) for the lights.
Thanks for the help OT!
WTF is a "pot light"? Bics and matches worked for my recreational smoke back in the day, but I sense you’re seeking something different.

Anybody have any suggestions for a 2 cup filler, euro made espresso machine? Thanks
Hey Threeclaws,
I’m a professional barista so usually pull shots on our shop machine, a Nuovo Simonelli, so I don’t have much experience with home machines. However, one forum I’m on () has many home users. Most of them like the Rancilio Silvia and usually pair it up with the Rancilio Rocky grinder. Check out the coffeegeek forums, I think they’ll be helpful in your search. Also, a good site to buy the machine from is Whole Latte Love ()

I’ve gotten pretty handy at cooking steak, poultry, and pork, but have never tried cooking fish.
I have a pair of Mahi steaks I plan on cooking tomorrow – pointers? Recipe suggestions? Anything I should know about cooking fish that’s different from cooking dry land meats?
depends very much on the fish (I am no expert either, but based on my successes/failures).
first off, don’t keep it long or its going to get funky–i tend to cook it the day i buy it. likewise for leftovers–don’t plan on having any.

I’m finding several silverfish crawling up the walls of my apartment every week. Maybe even 1+ every day.
What can I do to get rid of them?
I hate those things
Non-lethal
- By far the most effective way to be rid of silverfish for sure is to keep an area or room tidy, limiting the possible number of breeding grounds they have.
- Ensuring showers, baths etc. are rinsed clean and free of any residual that may attract hungry silverfish.
- Leaving the bathroom door open after a shower to lessen the humidity
- The scent of a solution should drive away silverfish within 24 hours.
- To capture silverfish, trap in small glass containers — silverfish cannot climb up the smooth inside walls.
Lethal
- Silverfish can also be caught by sprinkling on a wet, white cotton cloth, put it in a corner overnight, near the silverfish’s hideout.
- It is important when filling crevices in which silverfish are living or may potentially live to use a filler material which is either toxic to insects, or does not contain materials which would supply the silverfish with a source of food.
- A 1:1-ratio dispersion of or and sugar is a reliable bait to kill silverfish (relatively non-toxic to non-insects).
- Adults can be killed by freezing, but it is difficult to kill the eggs.
