Coffee Question

0

So the coffee at my work is REALLY horrible (one of those Flavia machines with "flavored" coffees etc) so I want to just make my own coffee. Here is the question: should I buy a french press or my own personal 4 cup coffee maker?

why do you say that?

Hybrid whipped cream/buttercream?

0

I have a great recipe for bailey’s buttercream, but I’m thinking of making bailey’s cream puffs and i’m a little unsure how to make this a reality.

I don’t want to cook the bailey’s like regular cream puff filling recipes call for, but I don’t want to just use whipped cream as it’s likely to go flat sitting out for a few hours at a bbq. Should I suck it up and make them the regular way and hope the cooked baileys tastes ok? Should I cook it with only a little baileys then add more after i take it off the heat? Can I just make the bailey’s buttercream and fold it into whipped cream? Thanks for the input.

Completely beer brewing kit for 600$

Assume I have no equipment at all, and i want to begin a home brew. Excluding the actual material for first batch, how can i best spend 500-600$

kthnxbai
You can get a really good setup for that amount. That’s a lot of money for a beginner. As far as how to spend it, I would go to places like these to check things out:

well, i can spend UP to 600$ on it, then what is a good value kit in that price range? i dont want to "settle" for crap equipment

How to antique painted wood items

I just made this up as I went along.

pine, spray painted with a blue/gray base coat and a "paprika" colored overcoat.

Dried, then sanded, then gasoline soak ragged to age and wear it.

Then sanded.

Then a gloss coat over it.

L brackets ruin it

and really not needed, glue IS strong
I have that same stove

So I know you covered up the outlet on the top and the switches for the over

Sprouting in Ball jars

0

So I don’t want to spend the exhorbent fee for shipping the wide mouth ball jars when I can get the regular ones at Big Lots for 5 bucks.

BUT I can’t get a lid for the regular sized ones and need to make a filter top that will let air and water in for sprouting grains.

Any ideas? I’ve tried just paper towels but that doesn’t seem to work too well :P just clogs. Cheese cloth I would imagine would do the same. gauze?
Cheese cloth is usually pretty loose woven. I’d try that.

Question about kitchen appliances

0

I’m looking to replace my stove and dishwasher to help with the sale of my condo. The dishwasher is broken and needs replacement and the stove is 20 years old and is due.

I obviously want to spend as little as possible while still getting something that is worthwhile.

- Do brand names matter? For example, does it matter much if I get a Kenmore vs a GE?
- Would you recommend spending a few extra hundred bucks on stainless?

Anyway, it is a very small kitchen. My current thought is that if someone was that concerned about a nice stove, they probably would want to cook and wouldn’t be too interested in my place. So, I am thinking that spending $1500 on a GE Profile just doesn’t make sense.

Remodeling crew it begins… Out with the old, in with the new

0

Old Sub-Zero – had lots of problems with this one.

New Kitchen-Aid

New one has more room in the fridge, but less room in the freezer. However its no biggie since we have a full size freezer in the back. Going to replacing almost everything in the next few months. Here what it looks like now.

Being replaced with a dual convection oven

Changing it out for an Induction Top

Bed Suggestions

0

So I’m moving into a new apartment pretty soon as need to find a bed. I’ve been to Ikea, West Elm, and Crate and Barrel. I was also considering CB2 and Room and Board(might be too pricey).

I am looking for a queen bed. I don’t want a bed that is too low too the ground (most of the ikea beds were too low). Mattress only or Matress and box spring .. doesn’t really make a difference to me. Budget is 7-800 delivered to 18508. I could prolly swing a bit more if I really fell in love with a bed but the cheaper the better to be honest as I still need to buy a mattress and bedding so that’ll cost me quite a bit.
