The tile both me and the gf are really liking, only comes in 13×13. Is this too big for a small bathroom?
I wouldn’t use 13" tiles in a small room. It just won’t look proportionately right.
Use something more like a 6×6 size. 4×4 is a touch too small for my tastes in most flooring applications, but I agree that 13×13 might be too big for something like a powder room or small half-bath. If it’s a full bath, even a small one, you MIGHT get away with it.
I like the look of bigger tiles if they’re on a diagonal. How do you feel about diagonal tiles?

I can pick these knives up for 20% of retail and was wondering if they are worth it? I currently have a Henkels Eversharp Pro knife set and needless to say i have better pocket knives.
before you buy them, see if you can find a store where you can try it out to make sure it feels right in your hand.
i also have the eversharp pro knife set and i hate them with such a passion. i like the weight and feel of the knives in my hand, but wtf were they thinking with that horrible micro-serration crap? all it does is tear everything apart. forget about cutting raw chicken because ever 2 passes you have to pull the meat out of the blade because the serrations get gunked up.

Anyone here put an engineered floor down in a high rise condo? I have a concrete floor, so it kind of limits what I can do. I know I can’t have solid hardwood
And I hate the feel of laminate.
I’ve seen engineered glued to the floor once. The guy at the flooring store told me I could do it as a floating floor. Anyone seen or tried that?
floating floors look good and will work great over a slab…definitely not like a cheap laminate flooring
I have put down engineered oak before. It looks real nice. Biggest thing is to make sure the concrete is flat and smooth. The only issue you may run into is that the boards do not lock together like laminate so you may have some issues with them separating, especially near the walls. This is why it is suggested that you glue it down. You may be able to get away with just glueing the edges.

is it norm to use a corner tub for stand up shower as well?
I am talking about the whirlpool corner tub with glass sliding doors
or is that odd/fucked?
planning on a bathroom reno and want to maximize space…instead of a standard tub shower
I wouldn’t say it’s normal but you could do it. The glass door on the nice whirpool tub would annoy me.
Have to agree w/ Sgt. Baker. It’s a whirlpool tub, not a neo angle shower. Spend the extra $ to get a nice curved shower rod which follows the contour of the tub and leave the whirlpool open.

Basically there’s still cool air in there but it’s definitely not as cool as it should be, everything is melted already. The ice box won’t make ice but the refrigerator still dispenses water fine. The bottom of the refrigerator has some cool air coming out of it, I think it used to be warm air before it broke.
Does anyone know what I can do to check what’s wrong with it before I go ask a repair man to check it out for 100$
See if your auto defrost cycle timer is hung up. Dispensing water is just a solenoid on the inlet water line and has NADA to do with refrigeration or defrost cycles. Are the condensing coils clean? Is the condenser fan running?

Hey there,
Anyone feel like answering this question.
I have an unfinished basement that I need to put a subfloor down on. The basement is concrete slab right now, and while there are load bearing walls, there is no framing currently up for the interior walls.
I intend to put 1" rigid foam covered by 5/8 plywood overtop, tapcon screwed into the floor (a la Mike Holmes), but am unsure whether I should first frame my walls (and get them sprayfoamed) or if I should put down the floor, and then frame up my walls on top of the subfloor.

I just moved into a new apartment that has a fair amount of exposed brick. The only problem is it’s painted over in white. Would the best way to go about it be paint thinner and a chipper? How messy/long would this process be?
I have no clue I’ve never had to remove paint before.

Fuck, this dry heat is killing my throat, skin, and paint (in places). So I am getting an Aprilaire Humidifier installed at the furnace, whole house style. I figured a humidifier would install on the supply duct to get maximum benefit, but the dude doing it says the unit sits on the return air duct. I’m no contractor, but it seems humidifying air (return side duct) then running it through my gas furnace would dry out the air. I didn’t want to sound like a simp and argue, but does a whole house furnace humidifier really sit on the return air duct, which is right close to the furnace?
